Support IFREE

Welcome to IFREE!

The International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics (IFREE) was established in 1997 by Dr. Vernon L. Smith to support research and education in experimental economics. Today, IFREE remains the only foundation annually supporting experimental economics research projects, scholarly development of pre and post doc students, speaker series, and seminars and workshops in experimental economics.

IFREE Mission Statement
To advance the understanding of exchange systems and
the testing and application of market-based institutions by:

  • funding basic research in economics through experimental methods,
  • supporting the scholarly development of students and pre- and post-doctoral visitors,
  • sponsoring innovative hands-on participatory learning in experimental economics in a variety of settings,
  • promoting extended discussion of experimental economics research applications to policy.
