Baltaduonis, Rimvydas is a graduate student in the Department of Economics at the University of Connecticut. Currently, he is a visiting IFREE Pre-doctoral Fellow at George Mason University in the Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Science. Rimvydas’s research and teaching interests are in market design, industrial organization, economics of social institutions, and transition economies. His current research is focused on energy, particularly electricity, markets. Lately, Rimvydas examined the performance of three auction mechanisms for wholesale power markets – Offer Cost Minimization auction, Payment Cost Minimization auction and Simple-Offer auction – when electricity suppliers act strategically. He also analyzed wholesale gas market in California, retail milk market in New England, banking sector in Eastern and Central Europe, wood and furniture industry in Lithuania. Rimvydas received his B.A. in economics from Vilnius University (Lithuania), and came to the University of Connecticut for graduate studies in economics. He practices traditional Shotokan Karate-Do, and enjoys playing the clarinet and saxophone.

Caliskan, Anil was born on May 7, 1974, in Izmir, Turkey, and is a Turkish citizen. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in 1995. She worked for Nortel in Turkey between 1995 and 1997, and then for Citibank Consumer Banking Business in Turkey for three years between 1997 and 2000. She received her Master of Business Administration degree from Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2000. Currently, she is working as Research Economist for Information Economy Project at George Mason University School of Law. Her “Exclusionary Bundling and the Effects of a Competitive Fringe” article was published in Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics (Vol. 163 No. 1). Her paper “Does Lowering the Age of Majority Reduce Crime?”, coauthored with Alex Tabarrok, is under review by Journal of Empirical Legal Studies. She also submitted the Mercatus Center public interest comment “Computer Reservation Systems” with Jay Cochran.

Chavanne, David was born in Melrose, Massachusetts and received his batchelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 2003. While at Holy Cross, he was introduced to experimental economics in his junior year. He spent the second half of his undergraduate education examining the interplay between economics and psychology. David is currently a research assistant at the Center for the Study of Neuroeconomics at George Mason. Since arriving at Mason, David has studied under Professor Kevin McCabe at the CSN. He is currently working with Professor McCabe on a variety of experimental projects that examine the manner in which individuals spend other people’s money, juror decision making and the relationship between markets and trust.

Chui, Mun is a PhD candidate of the Department of Computational and Data Sciences at George Mason University (GMU). He is an affiliated student in the Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Science (ICES) at GMU. His research focuses in auction design. Specifically, he is interested in the effect that bidding information has on bidder behavior in both single and multiple object environments.

Kimbrough, Erik is a Ph.D. student in Computational Sciences and Informatics at George Mason University. He graduated in 2006 from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economics and is now part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Science at GMU. Erik's work includes "Building a Market: From Personal to Impersonal Exchange" in Moral Markets: The Critical Role of Values in the Economy", with Vernon L. Smith and Bart J. Wilson, forthcoming, Princeton University Press. His current research focuses on the growth of institutions for the support of specialization and exchange.

Oprea, Ryan, University of California Santa Cruz

Parente, Michael, before coming to George Mason University, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Manchester. His research interests include experimental economics and economic systems design, and he is currently writing his dissertation comparing alternative designs of ascending auctions.

Tila, Dorina, before coming to George Mason University, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University of La Verne California, Athens branch. In May 2005, Dorina Tila received a Masters degree in Economics from George Mason University while continuing her PhD. Her research interests include experimental economics and prediction markets, and she is currently writing her dissertation in information aggregation and its potential obstacles in information markets.
